How to be deliberate with social media

How to be deliberate with social mediaYou hear people complaining about social media, usually about Facebook or Twitter, but in general all social media. You hear people saying, “I would never use Facebook or Twitter, it’s too dangerous!” and from the opposite direction, “My privacy settings are so high, no one will be able to find me.”

Never use social media

People who won’t use social media at all miss many wonderful opportunities to network with people they would never meet through other means.

Say anything they want and think their privacy settings will protect them

There is no setting to evade a person determined to find out what you are posting. Insurance companies, lawyers, and private detectives routinely use Facebook or Twitter to gain information and they don’t have to be connected with you for this to work.

How can you use Social Media (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Google+) effectively?

After investigating and participating in social media for about five years, I decide whether I should post.

I could never completely leave social media. The benefits include meeting clients I would never know. At the same time, it gave me the opportunity to meet so many wonderful people who are friends, resources, my network, and just fun.

Be deliberate in what you say. Never post in anger or when drunk or overtired. Control your content by being deliberate. Once you do this, social media is a wonderful tool that can bless you with new opportunities, networks, and friends!
