How to improve your resume success rate

Your resume success rate equates to whether or not your resume gets you interviews. Everyone’s job search is different.

I recently had a new teacher client apply for one job and get the interview. Not only that, by Monday after the Friday interview, they called to offer him the job. This is an excellent resume success rate but it also is not very common.

I have had many clients target only one job and land that job in the past but most people have to apply for more than one role to succeed. To be successful in your job search, you need to be consistent.

Many people think that December is a bad month for job search but many employers are gearing up for the next year and want to get their new employees on board.

In the month of December, I have had 6 clients let me know that they won new jobs, some are started already and others will start in January.

What are the key factors in a resume success rate?

  1. Is your resume targeted? Targeted resumes are designed with a specific career goal in mind and the reader can easily figure out the reason the person is applying for the job. Untargeted resumes often get throw out because it looks like the person is trying to randomly hit any job that comes up.
  2. Does your resume include accomplishments that show your ability to do the job and succeed? Resumes that rely on duties instead of demonstrating the value the individual would bring to the company are useless.
  3. Have you incorporated the keywords that demonstrate your qualifications in the industry?
  4. Does your resume have the WOW factor? Employers and hiring managers are inundated with resumes and want to see someone who created a document that captures their attention without being gaudy or bizarre.

Check over your resume and see if you included all of the key factors listed for the best resume success rate.
