How to discover your gifts and transform your career
Many people go through life without ever discovering their gifts and others go through life never using them. I shared a Zig Ziglar graphic on my Design Resumes Facebook page. It said:
The meaning of life is to find your gift. The purpose of life is to give it away.
Think about that for a minute. Discover your gifts. Do you know your gift? And are you using it? (Giving it away?) I can honestly answer yes. My gift is helping others reach their career goals with my interactive interview-like process.
Writing the resume is one of the end results but how we write it is very different than most resume writers. While working with my clients, we explore what it is that they are doing, have done, and want to do.
Some of my clients are clearly doing what they love. Others not so much. We look at the total picture and make sure they have a plan and a target as well as a reason for their career search.
When someone has no clarity about their gifts or where they want to use them, it becomes much harder to position them to win a new job. However, when they have discovered their passion, their gift, it is easier to translate those gifts into career marketing materials that position them for something new.
