Is your future direction dictated by your past?

Never believe your future direction is dictated by your past.

Often we get stuck because we focus on what happened in the past and that sets standards for us to fail.

  • Lost a job in the past and it was hard to get a new one. Do you then make even less effort to research the correct way to do job search? Find out how much it has changed since the last time we looked.
  • Couldn’t make networking work for you in the past so it must not work. Never mind that you never did any homework on the right networking or followed a model of a pushy sales pitch instead of building relationships.
  • Don’t plan for the future because you never met your goals in the past. Your goals may have had no base in reality. Nonetheless, it didn’t work to plan before so can’t do it now.
  • Never invest in experts because you hired a bad one once and therefore they are all bad.

But it doesn’t have to be that way.

Determine to start fresh with a clean slate, learn from history but not let it suffocate you or cause you to stagnate.

Enter into the new year with new vigor and excitement.

You don’t need to make January 1 your day to change everything. You have a brand new day every morning!

If you are ready for your future direction, let me help position you for success.

Hi Julie. Thanks for this post.

My mentor, Jim Rohn, used to say; ‘your past does not equal your future.’

It’s too easy to look back and assign a label to ourselves, that is no longer relevant today.

We are all in a process of ‘becoming.’

Thank you! We are – in the process of becoming!
