Top 10 Resume Tip #9 – Use a font size people can actually read!
This may sound obvious to some of my readers but using the right resume font size is critical to getting your resume read. The problem is twofold.
- Some people are still convinced the one-page resume is what they need. They try to squish everything on one page. I explained why the 1-page resume for most people is not the right option here, but the myth persists.
- Secondly, some people assume if the resume is read on a computer, it takes no effort for the reader to blow up the resume to a more readable size. This is a dangerous assumption!
What is the best font size for resumes?
If your resume shows your value and accomplishments, it will probably not fit on one page. Additionally, anytime you ask someone to do something extra to read your resume, you risk them moving on to the next candidate.
Don’t be angry you are not being asked for interviews if you are using a too small font. You may complain that you have all the credentials for the job in your resume, but if your resume font size is 7 points, no one will read it.
What is best font for resume in word?
What is the best font for resume and what size should it be? I find that 10 or 11 point font size works for most fonts and most readers. To be safe, print your resume and share with different people who might see it differently.
