Spend a little time in the Appreciation Zone
As I write this, our March weather here in Central Wisconsin is far from the norm. We have been in the 60F’s to 80F’s for the past few days. Design Resumes has been blessed with a fair number of new resume / career marketing clients too and so I have double reason to celebrate. But between the two, I find it harder to write here.
We really have not even hard a typical Wisconsin winter. We had less snow and less periods of subzero than normal, but it still seems long when you head into October and think that until April usually there is little chance of having the windows open. I told myself that when winter ended, I would make sure I appreciated the warm weather as much as possible.
Imagine my surprise (and delight) when I started seeing forecasts in the 60F zone (15.5C) and even more surprise when we spiked to 80F (26.6C) yesterday!
I’ve had shorts and tank tops on again, the windows are open, we’ve grilled out many times, and the trees and grass are starting to green out. I know that this could change back because it is far too early but for now I am spending much time int the Appreciation Zone being grateful for this unusual turn of weather.
When the burdens of life start wearing us down and we are overwhelmed by the problems of the day or major difficulties like poor health, family illness, financial difficulties, or loss of job, we need to shift that thinking and see if there is anything we can do to move into the Appreciation Zone.
We take many things for granted. What can you think of today to appreciate? Start your own Appreciation Zone.
