You can let life destroy or you can become stronger
Some people let the things that happen to them destroy them.
- They lose a job
- a relationship ends
- a family member dies
- they or a family member has mental illness
- they suffer financial loss or challenges
- they or someone they love has a terminal illness
- a family member or close friend is arrested
- their children get hooked on drugs or alcohol
and they fall apart. Not just for a short time, they never recover. They cease to function normally and everyone else in their life loses too.
All of these things are big life things. They are challenges that many of us hope never to face but most people have faced one or more of them in their lifetime. But when we are going through them, we feel totally alone.
You need the strength to carry on
When I saw the photo at the right, I knew it was the right one for this post. We do need to find the strength to carry on! Too many people give up when they hit the wall with a tough problem. They may turn to alcohol or drugs or just lay around lifelessly instead of facing their problems and finding a solution.
If you are one of those people facing a tough problem right now, take heart and take action. Figure out the steps you need to carry on and do one of them today.
How do I know?
I’ve been there. I have had my life shares of problems. Some of my friends say more than my share. But I have found that putting one step in front of another is the perfect solution to help me carry on. I make little goals and accomplish those. This is the one step in front of another strategy. Don’t let things destroy you!
My goal is to be there for my clients, sometimes just to listen and encourage. And sometimes they surprise me with notes like this one:
Our face to face meeting was so encouraging. I wanted to send you a case of V-8 juice with a sign that said “Thanks, I needed that.”
Are you one of those people struggling with something big today?
