Giving Hope – Nine days until a fresh, untouched calendar year

Nine days.

We have nine days until a fresh, untouched calendar year. And if you’re like most people I know… it can’t come fast enough. 2020 has exhausted us.

This year was hard for everybody I know… and in diverse ways, too. Schools closed. Parents had to facilitate distance learning for their kids. Companies fought to stay afloat. Some were successful. A lot of them weren’t. And people lost their jobs. A lot of people.

And in their job-loss, it was really easy for people to lose hope. Especially when we started this pandemic with orders to ‘stay at home’ for what was supposed to only last two weeks. Then three more weeks. Then another month. Then… well, here we are. Still.

BUT!! While it might feel hopeless, I want to promise you that it’s NOT!

Companies are adapting. And they’re hiring! (Here are 103 companies that are actively hiring…) But if you’re looking for a job, you’re not alone, as the unemployment rate is at an all-time high, for the last 50 years.

So, what can you do?

This article wasn’t meant to be a downer 😉

I want to help! And, there are a lot of things you can be doing to get yourself ready to be hired!!

  • Pick yourself up.
  • Dust yourself off.
  • Update your resume.
  • Update your LinkedIn profile.

And ACTIVELY work on your JOB SEARCH.

Not passively. Or haphazardly. But INTENTIONALLY and with purpose. And if you’re not sure how to do this, start HERE.

Jason Alba created this 6-week Job Search Program and affectionately called it ‘Project HOPE’ … which is even more appropriate today, than it was the day he named it that.

The premise of Project HOPE was to address three big problems that every job seeker he had spoken to were facing: Loneliness. Depression. And, the right things.

The program addresses those three things. It will help you feel less lonely. It will attack depression and inspire hope. And it will help you understand what the right things are.

How?

Jason combined ideas and principles he learned over the last 14+ years talking with hundreds of career experts and thousands of job seekers. From the bottom of Florida to the top of Washington state, from job ministries and MBA programs to living rooms and the phone, he distills what he would advise you to do in the job search.

He combines this with Mark LeBlanc’s success principles (that he teaches small businesses – who have remarkably similar/identical needs that job seekers have).

And it’s really, really effective.

Project Hope is a 6-week audio program.

Each morning you listen to an audio recording, where Jason will walk you through your day. He will train you in best practice job search tactics, starting at what you should do today, and then building every day for six weeks. It starts out simple, baby-stepping you into the program, but soon you are doing all the right things.

This program will not consume your day. In fact, for the first couple of weeks, it will only take 30 to 60 minutes each day, which means you’ll have plenty of time to do your own stuff. It also means that if you lucky enough to be working a full-time job, or if you are busy preparing for the holidays, you will still be able to do this program.

As time goes on, as you learn more skills, the tasks get a little harder. But they also should produce more results to get you closer to the right job.

There will also be accountability. At the end of the day, you will be asked if you completed your three outlined high-value activities. And each day starts with a clean slate.

To be clear – while the program provides guided coaching, it is not customized coaching. It is a recorded program where Jason coaches you on what to do and think today, and tomorrow, and the next day, until you land a job.

But most importantly, as I mentioned, it will not consume your day. You can make it as big or small as you want. It is designed to be something you can do every day without feeling like it is overwhelming.

How much will this cost?

Right now, the pricing is $397, however, due to the events of 2020, Jason has extended the introductory price of $197… which is a small price to pay for daily structure and accountability in your job search!

And – when you are done with six weeks, you will have continued access to the program. You can start over or start over at week 2 or 3 or whatever, or just listen to the Wednesday of week 6, as long as you want. You’ll also have new tools in your toolbox and enough training to allow you to do your own program after the 6 weeks is over. This program is about empowering you, not tying you to a 6-week program.

Don’t wait.

Give yourself this gift of hope. And hopefully a new job for the new year!!
