Your resume – Mix it up – change it up, be innovative!
Innovative? We tend to be creatures of habit, doing things the way we were taught or learned along the way. For some people, change is not a problem, for others, it becomes a crisis point.
The salad in the photo is a case in point. We have ways of thinking of things and believe that they need to be a certain way. While I always put many things in my salads, they were, by and far, traditional.
Be Innovative
In the past few years, I changed that up. I add and subtract according to the way I feel at a given moment. If I see an idea that might work, I throw it in.
In the salad photo, you can see lettuce and other traditional salad vegetables but you can also see blueberries, raisins, and some cashews. The dressing for this salad was inspired by my neighbor’s comment about putting hummus in hers with some red wine or apple cider vinegar.
I had hummus that I made with a little more Tabasco than I wanted for eating alone so in it went, mixed with red wine vinegar. Not only was it good for me but it all tasted great.
Change in your resume strategy
The traditional old approach to resumes was a one page in black and white with basically a job description of what you did and where you did it.
Today’s resumes if done by a professional resume writer or an individual who researched the latest strategies will incorporate new strategies that differentiate from that mold.
When I write a resume, I look for ways to position the client for the new role they hope to play.
I ask pointed questions to find out what they bring to the table that makes them different.
What are their super stories? Their accomplishments? How did they make a difference?
Be willing to embrace change and figure out what is the best solution for you!
