When you need a boost of confidence
Job seekers, whether actually unemployed, unhappy in their current role, or reaching for the next challenge need a boost of confidence. No matter how successful you have been in the past, it doesn’t take long for you to start doubting yourself when you are planning to make a change.
Where do you get the boost of confidence?
It doesn’t matter whether you are successful entrepreneur, top-performing sales professional, solution-driven executive, compassionate and insightful healthcare professional, or critical thinking IT manager. When faced with making a change, many people need a boost of confidence.
I can’t count the number of times someone has said to me, “I tried to write my resume, but I just don’t know the right way or what to say.” What they are really saying is that they don’t know how to write a powerful, job-winning resume to show the value that they bring to the job. They don’t know because they never think of themselves to truly capture success stories. They think of the resume as a boring list of duties or a recap of job description instead of a marketing document to position them by showcasing their wins.
I can see how the resume helps give a boost of confidence every time a client sends me a landing notice.
“It has been a whirlwind since you completed my resume, an offer was made I will be accepting. I can tell you my resume has been met with rave reviews so I trust you implicitly, recommended you, and will be a customer for life.”
Professional Awesomeness Finder
Ed Han, Wordsmith, Recruiter, Job-Hunt.org Contributor, and Jobseeker Ally, reminded me how I give job seekers a boost of confidence when he commented on LinkedIn about my 32 years in the resume writing industry:
Has it been this long already that you’ve been a professional awesomeness finder? Wow!
I really loved that because it captures what I do, my job is to find your awesomeness so you can win your next job. When we work together, I ask you the questions that help you remember the stories. My clients are people who care about the work they do and often are people who make a difference in the lives of those around them.
Jason Alba, CEO of JibberJobber.com explains the boost of confidence job seekers get when working with a professional resume writer in his blog post, The Truth about Resume Writers, he said:
Resume writers are in the trenches with you. And they have been in the trenches hundreds, maybe thousands, of times. They have seen many successes, and many failures. They learn from job seekers that have gone before you. Many have seen the cycles of great economy/cruddy economy. They have an understanding of the past, and a vision of the future, and can be your lighthouse helping you navigate a seemingly hopeless and dangerous journey.
