Maximize your job search success — Give yourself a challenge!

Maximize your job search success -- Give yourself a challenge!Maximize your job search success — Give yourself a challenge! Many job seekers start with great determination and motivation. They are going out there to get a job! But as rejection emails pile up or there is no response from their applications, they lose desire and fair to be motivated to do anything.

When I find myself stuck with something I find ways to make myself move forward. Strategies I use include:

  1. Analyze the problem
  2. Set a goal
  3. Make a list
  4. Prioritize the list
  5. Find your best energy time of day
  6. Outline a specific plan
  7. Discover new resources
  8. Consult with experts
  9. Set a timer
  10. Give myself a challenge
  11. Set a deadline
  12. Find an accountability coach
  13. Hire an expert
  14. Celebrate your success

Maximize your job search success: Analyze the problem

If you read my blog regularly, you will find that just recently I have been writing more than I have the past few months. I recognized that my writing had slowed considerably and determined to change that. As I analyzed the issue, I saw that I was not taking the time to write. I then set a goal. Write each day if possible until the end of the July but anything I wrote had to be worth reading and give value to my target market, motivated job seekers who will choose me as their career professional and be willing to invest to reach their own goals.

Maximize your job search success: Make a list

Writing blog posts is always on my daily list. But I prioritized the writing and made writing an early morning project as much as possible since that is my high energy part of the day. I checked through my saved drafts and used some of those to write new posts. I throw at least headlines into the drafts when I think of something I want to write. I thought through issues that current clients have had and made some of those issues into blog posts.

Maximize your job search success: Discover new resources.

As I write posts, I collect images from Flickr and found a new contributor with some provocative ideas in his collection. I favorite them to use in the future. I find that a strong image makes a better blog post. Consult with experts. As one of Jim Connolly’s former clients, I often pop back to his blog to get motivated. I also remember all the things about content marketing that he taught me in the three years I worked with him such as how to write more effective headlines and why content must have value to the reader to motivate the reader.

Set a timer. I do that more with things I really don’t want to do so I rarely set a timer for writing. However, I focus the time on writing and don’t let myself get interrupted when I am writing. I gave myself a challenge to keep writing and set the deadline for each day.

Celebrate your success!

This post will be the 9th for July. I hope you have enjoyed the new surge in posts. My goal for August is to continue to create valuable content for job seekers and answer some of their issues. Do you have questions you would like answered about job search? Write them in the comments and the answer may be in a future post.

Use the steps in this post to get yourself unstuck. Just DO it!
